Bright or sunny spells and wintry showers on Friday. Feeling very cold in the strengthening east to southeasterly winds, perhaps reaching gale force over Orkney by the evening. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland becoming mainly dry with some clear spells and a moderate to fresh easterly wind,. Cloudier over Orkney with more frequent sleet and snow showers, strong to gale easterlies. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Saturday 10th February:

A bright dry start across Shetland then turning cloudier with some wintry showers. Orkney cloudy with sleet or snow turning increasingly to rain, strong to gale easterly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mostly cloudy with patchy rain on Sunday, perhaps heavier later. Monday and Tuesday look brighter with a few showers. Milder.
