A new Scottish documentary which is touring Scotland is coming to Orkney this weekend: To See Ourselves

The documentary, along with a Q&A with the director, is on at the Gable End Theatre in Hoy on Saturday 17th February and the Pickaquoy in Kirkwall on Sunday at 5.30pm.
Shot in the intense summer of 2014, by award winning director, Jane McAllister, TO SEE OURSELVES is an observational, deeply personal account of the independence referendum as seen through the eyes of a pregnant filmmaker, as she follows her idealist father’s relentless activism and reveals the heart behind the politics during this historic crossroads for Scotland.
The film was released in cinemas in 2023 by NEW LiCHT FiLMS – a production company based in Greenock – and is now embarking on a Q&A community tour across the country.
The film features music by Orcadian band Saltfishforty.
