Largely dry and bright but cold. Shetland will see the best of the sunshine, though an isolated snow shower can’t be ruled out. Orkney will have more in the way of cloud. Strong northeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland will be dry with some long clear periods, the fresh northeasterly winds slowly easing. Orkney will be cloudier and mainly dry, though some showers possible towards morning. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Thursday 4th April:

Orkney will have a cloudy morning with some rain before brightening up in the afternoon. Shetland will see sunny spells and the odd wintry shower. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Bright start Friday then clouding over with patchy rain. Heavy rain on Saturday clearing to scattered showers, gales. Sunny spellls and the odd shower Sunday, strong, milder southerly winds.
