Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has announced the reopening of Hackness Martello Tower and Battery. This follows on from the completion of a stage of ongoing essential conservation works. This rare and well-preserved Battery was part of the coastal defences built to protect merchant shipping interests during the Napoleonic Wars.
