Conor Savage, the Labour Candidate for the Orkney and Shetland Constituency in the General Election on 4th of July, said that Labour will promote ‘Brand Scotland’ through UK embassies.
He said:
“A UK Labour government will promote more high-quality Scottish products abroad using the successful blueprint created by whisky and smoked salmon. Labour will use the UK’s global network of embassies to sell high-quality Scottish produce and services abroad, while promoting Scotland as a premium food and drink destination.”

Conor Savage continued:

“Brand Scotland is a key part of Labour’s growth plan for Scotland. Under the plans, a Labour-run Scotland Office under Ian Murray as Secretary of State for Scotland will treat Scottish food and drink as an economic asset and promote Brand Scotland internationally with trade missions to every continent within two years.”
“Labour will also use state muscle to improve the links between tourism, rural infrastructure and food producers, allowing Scots to benefit more deeply from international visitors. Brand Scotland – our amazing food and drink, creative industries, and tourism and hospitality – has an immense soft power abroad, while creating jobs at home.
“The chaotic Tory government currently squatting in Westminster has failed to capitalise on our homegrown success. We will use our international links to sell our products to the world while opening the door for customers who want to visit, and ensuring that when tourists do spend money, it ends up in Scottish producers’ pockets.
“A Labour-run Scotland Office under Ian Murray will be Scotland’s window onto the world.”
