The Stromness Hotel has closed with immediate effect. This follows from a serious incident on Friday night when a man was injured in a lift shaft fall. The owners state that the two incidents are unrelated.

I hope the injured person is recovering well.
Now, the hotel might get sorted and return to being a centre of Stromness/Orkney life. We have many good memories of nights out/meals/good times, as do many folk.

I just realized – I read this as meaning that it’s closed for good. I think I was being hopeful that it might close, be bought by a more understanding person and return to it’s former place in Stromness life. I now realise it’s probably closed temporarily. Ach weeel – I can but hope.

So sad, we stayed there a few years back…..nice homely hotel with excellent staff!
