A cloudy start with some rain or drizzle. Soon brightening up with sunshine over Orkney, reaching Shetland by midday, then sunny intervals and scattered showers in afternoon. Strong southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Sunny spells and scattered showers on Friday, lighter winds, low risk of more persistent rain for a time. The weekend bright and showery and rather windy.
