Any patchy rain across Shetland soon clearing, otherwise a bright morning with some sunny spells. Cloud increases for the afternoon with patchy, mainly light rain reaching Orkney early this afternoon and perhaps Shetland by evening. Occasionally strong westerly winds easing. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Rather cloudy across Orkney with outbreaks of rain this evening and overnight. A little rain across Shetland this evening but becoming largely dry overnight with clear spells developing. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Wednesday 4th September:

Mostly cloudy morning across Orkney with a little rain, but drier brighter conditions, with some sunny spells across Shetland spreading to Orkney in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Rather cloudy end to the week with an increasing risk of haar. With mainly easterly winds, the best chance of any bright or sunny spells will be across western parts.
