Today 6th October:

A dry and bright morning with some good spells of sunshine around. However cloud thickens from the south for the afternoon with outbreaks of rain reaching Orkney in the early afternoon and Shetland later this afternoon. Occasionally fresh southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Mostly cloudy evening with outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain, although drier conditions reach Orkney towards midnight. Shetland remains cloudy with rain overnight, and rain returns to Orkney around dawn. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Monday 7th October:

Cloudy with further outbreaks of rain, the rain across Shetland, especially northern parts, turning patchier for a time through the middle of the day. Winds turning northeasterly and strengthening. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy with occasionally heavy rain and strong to gale force northeasterly winds Tuesday. Brighter with scattered showers Wednesday and Thursday and turning colder as winds turn more northerly and ease.
