Today 7th October:

A rather cloudy day with occasional rain. However across Orkney the rain is expected to become more persistent, and perhaps heavier, for a time in the afternoon. Fresh easterly or northeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining cloudy through this evening with further outbreaks of rain, the rain tending to die out through the early hours. Strengthening northeasterly winds, risk of gales for Shetland later. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday 8th October:

A mostly cloudy day with rain at times, perhaps the odd heavier burst across Shetland in the afternoon. Strong northeasterly then northerly winds with gales across Shetland. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Colder with sunny or clear spells and showers, with strong northerly winds only slowly easing, through Wednesday and Thursday. Further showers Friday, perhaps more persistent rain later.
