Sunny spells with the odd passing shower over Shetland and feeling chilly in the fresh southwesterly breeze. Mainly dry with a little brightness over Orkney and one or two light showers. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly cloudy with some patchy rain in the evening. Becoming dry with clear spells of a time before showers spread in from the west. Strengthening southwest winds. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday 28th December:

A mixture of sunny intervals and blustery showers. Feeling rather cold with fresh southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Colder with a few showers on Sunday, these turning wintry. Cold with wintry showers into early next week, perhaps a longer spell of sleet or snow on Hogmanay.
