A little brightness across Shetland otherwise a rather cloudy day with a few showers, some longer spells of rain possible across Orkney this morning. Showers turning wintry across Shetland later. Fresh to strong westerly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland and Fair Isle will be mainly dry with the odd wintry shower. Thicker cloud across Orkney will bring some occasional rain during the early hours. Frost and ice Shetland. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Monday 30th December:

Shetland will be mainly dry. Rain across Orkney in the morning before it becomes dry through the afternoon. Light winds. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cold and windy on Tuesday with rain and snow across Orkney, perhaps extending into Shetland for a time. Cold and bright on Wednesday and Thursday with snow showers.
