A review chaired by Dame Sue Bruce will look at the operation of Creative Scotland and how it is fulfilling its role in supporting Scotland’s cultural sector.

As part of the process a survey has been launched.

The survey takes 15 minutes to complete and is looking for responses from individual creative practitioners/freelancers and from organisations.

The Scottish Government’s Culture Strategy was first published in 2020.

It was supposed to encourage cultural projects to be transformative and empowering.

Commenting Dame Sue Bruce said:

“Culture and the arts reflect our values, aspirations and history as a country and the people who work in the sector make an invaluable contribution to our society and our economy.

“I look forward to working with the sector and Creative Scotland to ensure that it’s remit and functions continue to be relevant for the culture sector today, recognising that there has been much change in the sector since 2010 when Creative Scotland was first established.”

Creative Scotland allocates funding from the Scottish Government and The National Lottery to support the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland.

The draft Scottish Budget 2025-26 has allocated an increase of £34 million to culture in Scotland, including £20 million for Creative Scotland’s multi-year funding programme.
