We’ve walked at Glimps Holm many times

A  fine January day, and we walked there again, then went for lunch to the Barrier View Café/Celina Rupp jewellery at the Commodore Hotel, Holm

the front of the Barrier View cafe with its large windows

Through into the café, which is light, airy, has terrific views – and music, but not too loud – an unfortunate tendency in cafés and restaurants these days

the inside of the cafe with a range of tables and chairs

Mike had Baked Tattie with Tuna and I had Spicy Bean Loaded Fries topped with cheese, which was gorgeous!  Really, exceptionally yummy

two large plates of food one with a baked potato and its filling the other with spicy pasta

And…big helpings.  I couldn’t finish mine, so the waitress kindly put what was left in a carton for me to take home.

We had  a look round the shop which presents Celina Rupp jewellery https://www.celinaruppjewellery.co.uk

….and many other Orkney made items

The place lives up to its name, with a view of the 1st Churchill barrier

And, if you time it right you might see a spectacular sunset

the sun setting on the calm bay

 We’ll be back.
