A cloudy, windy day. Outbreaks of rain for much of the day across Shetland, heaviest in the morning. Rain more occasional across Orkney, turning mainly dry in the afternoon. Southwest winds increasing to gale force across Shetland. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

A mainly dry, cloudy evening. Some patchy rain towards midnight, continuing through the early hours, mainly across Orkney. Southwest winds gradually easing. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Thursday 6 March:

Rain in the morning. Turning dry across Orkney in the afternoon with sunny spells developing. Rain clearing Shetland towards the end of the day. Southerly winds strengthening in the evening. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Dry on Friday and much of Saturday with light winds, some sunny or clear spells. Strengthening easterly winds and rain on Sunday.
