Outbreaks of rain across Shetland this morning will become persistent through the afternoon with strengthening northeasterly winds. Dry morning over Orkney then rain later in afternoon and early evening. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with rain, becoming heavier for a time. Drier, clearer, colder weather will follow from the north later tonight with some showers, mainly over Shetland. Fresh northeast winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday 10 March:

A much colder day with sunny interludes and scattered showers, turning wintry at times. Feeling chilly in the fresh north wind. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Staying cold with sunny interludes and scattered showers, wintry at times. Fresh northerly winds becoming lighter by Thursday. Overnight frost and icy patches.
