A mostly cloudy morning with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle. Brighter conditions edge across Orkney from mid-morning with some sunny spells developing for the afternoon, but Shetland remains cloudy with further rain at times. Occasionally fresh southeasterly winds easing. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Some late sunny then clear spells across Orkney, but cloud and occasional light rain or drizzle across Shetland will edge back into Orkney towards dawn. Mainly light winds. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday 23 April:

Mostly cloudy with occasional rain and drizzle slowly dying out, some brighter spells across the far north of Shetland and southwest of Orkney in the afternoon. Freshening easterly breeze. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Dry but cloudy start Thursday but becoming brighter. Dry with sunny spells Friday but strengthening southeasterly breeze. Saturday looks mostly cloudy with rain at times, winds turning southerly and easing.
