80% of UK Butterfly species are in decline.

The Big Butterfly Count takes place between 18 July to 10 August.

Last year’s figures, 2024, continued the marked decline of butterfly numbers as habitats are lost and pesticides are used on plants.

The Big Butterfly Count run by Butterfly Conservation is a citizen science event where in just 15 minutes all those who take part will have added to the data on the current state of these delicate creatures.
