Amnesty Orkney are again holding their Five Barriers Fun Run to raise awareness about human rights abuses, torture and wrongful detention around the world.

The Five Barriers Fun Run takes place on the afternoon of Sunday 24th August 2025 starting at 3.30pm.

The run of 6.5 miles is from the Barrier View Café (formerly Commodore Motel) in Holm, across the 4 Churchill Barriers, touching base on South Ronaldsay, then returning over the 4th barrier to finish at the Sands Motel in Burray Village.

The event start at 3.30pm is to coincide with low tide.

Entrance fee: £10 per adult; £5 per child (under 15), or by fundraising sponsorship.

Entry and sponsorship forms are available from the Pickaquoy Centre and Trek and Travel in Kirkwall, the Library in Stromness, and from Saint Margaret’s Hope and Dounby shops.

The Fun Run is open to All – Run, walk, bring the dog, push the buggy.
