It will be mainly dry at first with bright spells, particularly for Shetland. Thickening cloud soon spreads northeast to Orkney bringing some patchy light rain, reaching Shetland through the afternoon. Light winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy through the evening with some outbreaks of patchy light rain. Staying cloudy for Shetland, but some brighter spells may start to develop for Orkney by morning. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Monday 25 August :

Low cloud and haar likely persisting all day for Shetland. A cloudy start for Orkney but bright or sunny spells developing through the morning. Light winds freshen through the evening. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Dry start, then rain or showers on Tuesday. Mainly dry with bright spells on Wednesday, likely cloudier for Shetland. Freshening southeast winds at times. Further rain or showers on Thursday.
