A cloudy day across Shetland with showers, these quite frequent during the morning with some turning heavy and bringing some risk of thunderstorms. Mainly dry for Orkney with brighter spells building for the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland mainly dry for the evening. Periods of rain reaching Orkney by mid-evening, which extends to Shetland during the early hours of Sunday, before clearing Orkney come dawn. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Sunday 31 August :

Early morning rain across Shetland. Otherwise a fine dry bright morning and early afternoon, before showers develop mid to late afternoon. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Bright spells and only a few scattered and generally light showers through the outlook period, with the Northern Isles probably seeing some of the best of the countries weather.
