A few morning showers across Shetland and perhaps later for Orkney, otherwise a generally dry day across the Northern Isles with some decent spells of sunshine. The southeasterly breeze will be strong across Orkney. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
Tonight:
Dry start this evening with clear spells but increasing cloud brings outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain to Orkney towards midnight and Shetland around dawn. Strong southeasterly winds. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
Thursday 11 September :
Early rain across Orkney soon clearing, the rain clearing Shetland by midday. Thereafter a bright and mainly dry day with sunny spells. Occasionally strong southerly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Remaining unsettled with sunny spells and occasionally heavy showers through Friday and Saturday, the showers blustery Friday. Potential for a wet and very windy day Sunday, details uncertain at present.
