Today 11 September :

Early rain across Orkney soon clearing, but occasionally heavy rain over Shetland until late morning. Thereafter a bright day with sunny spells and a few showers. Strong to gale force easterly winds at first over Shetland, then strong southerly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry with clear spells in evening. Becoming cloudier overnight as winds turn southwest with heavy rain over Orkney from the early hours and across Shetland by end of night. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Friday 12 September :

Some heavy rain at first, but clearing away in the morning then bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, although most over Shetland. Fresh to strong southwest winds. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Showers on Saturday and at first Sunday with fresh southeast winds, then drier before strong easterly winds overnight brings heavy rain. Turning to showers on Monday with lighter northerly winds.
