It will be a mostly dry day with patchy cloud and sunny spells. The odd light shower possible over Shetland. Light southeasterly winds strengthening later. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Dry start with clear spells. Turning cloudier with rain spreading north-eastwards over Orkney and reaching Shetland just after dawn. Rain may be heavy at times. Moderate southeasterly winds becoming strong. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Monday 15 September :

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain for much of the day. Rain heavy at times over Orkney with drier spells for Shetland. Becoming drier by late afternoon. Strong easterly winds. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Bright spells and showers on Tuesday. Cloudy with rain spreading northwards on Wednesday. Cloudy with showers and at times longer spells of rain on Thursday. Strong winds persisting throughout.
