Some early brightness across Shetland, otherwise a cloudy morning with outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain. Rain gradually clearing east through the afternoon with, especially across Orkney, some sunny spells developing. Mild with strong southerly winds easing this afternoon. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

A few clear spells at first this evening, but generally a cloudy night with, perhaps occasionally heavy, rain at times. Occasionally strong southerly winds. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday 2 October :

Rather cloudy morning with occasional rain then drier for a time in the early afternoon. More persistent, occasionally heavy rain spreading northeast late in afternoon and evening. Strengthening southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A few early showers Friday but heavy rain expected later, the rain turning more showery through Saturday, and very windy with gales or severe gales. Winds and showers easing Sunday.
