Today 5 October :

A cloudy start with a few showers but soon becoming dry and bright over Orkney, then across Shetland early afternoon. Patchy rain spreading to Orkney later. Northwesterly gale force winds in morning turning westerly and becoming lighter in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

A largely dry evening for Shetland with clear spells. Cloudy with patchy rain over Orkney, this will spread east to Shetland and become heavier overnight. Fresh west or southwest winds. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Monday 6 October :

A mostly cloudy day with occasional rain or drizzle. Orkney should becoming drier and brighter for a time in the afternoon. Fresh or strong southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Early rain and strong winds easing then mainly dry and bright on Tuesday. Breezy with bright spells and occasional showers on Wednesday and Thursday.
