The Stronsay Men’s Shed meets every Saturday at 10.30am in the Mission Hall, Lower Whitehall. We’re a small but lively group who enjoy getting together to share a cuppa, swap stories, play games, and work on small projects – with plenty of tea, biscuits and bacon rolls to keep us going!

The Men’s Shed movement began in Australia and is now thriving across Scotland. It’s all about creating a welcoming place where men can come together, enjoy companionship, learn new skills, and support each other. As the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association say:

“Sheds are for all men – a place to be yourself, to learn, to share, to laugh, and to belong.”

Stronsay Men’s Shed has its own aims and purpose, shaped by members, with a small informal committee to help things run smoothly. We’re not about red tape – we’re about friendship, community, and having a space where men of all ages (18+) and backgrounds can meet.

Recent projects have included making a puppet theatre for the school children, which was a great success, and we’re now working to improve the Mission Hall with plans for a workshop, kitchen and more activity spaces.

We welcome donations to help keep things going, but most of all we welcome new members. Whether you fancy lending a hand with a project, just want to enjoy some company, or have ideas for how the Shed could grow, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
