A largely dry and cloudy day with a few bright or sunny intervals breaking through. The odd light shower possible over Shetland but these will pass over quickly where they occur. Strong westerly winds with gales. Gales easing later. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Overcast cloud with outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle spreading eastwards over the Northern Isles. Remaining overcast overnight with some light rain. Strong westerly winds with gales overnight. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday 10 October :

Cloudy for much of the day but a few brighter spells possible over Orkney later. Patchy light rain possible throughout the day. Strong westerly winds with gales easing later. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A cloudy few days with limited brighter spells. Mostly dry but with a few spots of light rain possible. Strong westerly winds on Saturday easing to light Sunday and Monday.
