Mainly cloudy with showers, these heaviest and most frequent over Orkney. Showers merging to longer spells of rain over Shetland later in the day. Strong north to northeast winds, reaching gale force through the afternoon and evening Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Staying windy with strong or gale force north to northwest winds. Further showers over Orkney, but some clear spells. Cloudier over Shetland with outbreaks of rain. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday 25 October :

Cold and windy with frequent, sometimes heavy showers, but longer spells of rain over Shetland. Strong or gale force northwest winds, but severe gales over Shetland at times. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Showers easing Sunday and winds decreasing. Showery rain on Monday with strong northerly winds developing. Winds ease overnight and becoming drier, but outbreaks of rain spreading from west through Tuesday.
