An isolated shower over Orkney at first but otherwise it will be a dry day with plenty of long sunny spells and patchy cloud. Slowly becoming cloudier through the afternoon. Light winds becoming strong over Orkney later. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Dry start with clear spells. Rain soon spreads northeast over Orkney, before reaching Shetland overnight. Dry with clear spells for Orkney later. Strong southeasterly winds, occasionally gale force. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Friday 31 October :

Rain clears Shetland through the morning, dry with sunny spells for Orkney. Cloudier with outbreaks of heavy showers through the afternoon. Strong southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Remaining unsettled and mostly cloudy with showers and at times longer spells of heavy rain. Rain most prolonged through Saturday. Generally breezy with gales for a time Saturday.
