It’ll be a cloudy day with occasional showers. Showers most frequent over Shetland with longer dry spells for Orkney. Strong southeasterly winds over Shetland but lighter for Orkney. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy this evening with rain spreading northeastwards across Orkney and Shetland. Rain will be heavy at times. Rain turning lighter and more patchy overnight. Strong winds easing for Orkney later. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Monday 8 December :

Another cloudy day with outbreaks of rain through the morning. Turning largely dry in the afternoon with a few bright intervals. Strong winds over Shetland easing. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday with strong winds and risk of severe coastal gales. Drier with some bright or sunny spells Thursday with winds easing.
