Early rain across Shetland soon clearing to leave a bright morning with sunny spells and a few blustery showers. Becoming cloudier through the afternoon with occasionally heavy rain spreading southeast. Very windy with occasionally severe southwesterly gales, gusts around 75mph. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Evening rain soon clearing to clear spells and showers, these may merge into more persistent rain for a time later in night. Southwesterly winds slowly easing, but remaining strong. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Thursday 11 December :

Rather cloudy start with a few showers around but becoming dry by late morning with, especially across Orkney, some good spells of sunshine around. Occasionally strong southwesterly winds slowly easing. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining unsettled through Friday and the weekend with showers or longer spells of occasionally heavy rain. Mild, with strong to gale force southerly or southwesterly winds.
