Today 16 December :

Orkney will see a lot of dry weather with the just the odd shower. Shetland will see passing showers ,these most frequent in the afternoon. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Clear intervals and occasional showers, these showers mainly over Shetland and northwest Orkney. The showers dying out in early hours, but Orkney clouding over towards morning with patchy rain. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday 17 December :

Shetland starting dry but occasional rain over Orkney will push up to Shetland, allowing Orkney to brighten up. Heavier rain will reach all areas later. Southerly gales for a time. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Remaining unsettled and fairly mild with clear or sunny intervals and showers, as well as a few longer spells of rain. Strong winds at times.
