The morning will be cloudy but dry. Thicker cloud will spread south over Shetland during the afternoon, followed by patchy rain or drizzle later. The northwesterly breeze will strengthen during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

The night will continue cloudy and breezy. Patchy rain and scattered showers over Shetland will spread to Orkney from the evening. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Wednesday 31 December :

A cloudy day with showers. Snow showers will follow south by the evening. The day will be windy with northwesterly winds reaching gale later. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday to Saturday will stay very cold with snow showers, the snow falling to low levels. Gale force northerly winds continue through most of this period.
