A very cold day with snow and hail showers, these often heavy and frequent, especially in the morning. The odd rumble of thunder possible. Strong northerly winds with continued gale and drifting snow risk. Maximum temperature 2 °C.
Tonight:
Very cold overnight with heavy snow and hail showers continuing. Strong northerly winds over the Isles which may cause drifting snow. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
Sunday 4 January :
Another very cold day with frequent and heavy snow and hail showers, which may be thundery at times. Strong northerly winds remaining which may give drifting snow accumulations. Maximum temperature 2 °C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Snow showers continuing through Monday and Tuesday but becoming more isolated. A drier day Wednesday but a few wintry showers possible. Breezy at times but winds generally easing. Remaining cold.
