A cold day with scattered wintry showers, these showers clear Shetland from the afternoon. The southerly wind will turn southeast and strengthen to gale over Shetland from the morning. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers over Orkney but a dry evening for Shetland. Further showers spread west from the late evening, these wintry at times. Windy. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Saturday 10 January :

The day will be cold and windy with continuing scattered showers, wintry at times becoming dry over Orkney later. Windy. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cold with showers over Shetland at first, outbreaks of rain follow northeast Sunday. Milder with dry spells interspersed with showers or longer periods of rain, Monday and Tuesday.
