Cloudy with showers interspersed with dry spells, showers wintry at times. Showers becoming heavier and confined to Shetland through the afternoon with clear spells developing for Orkney. Strong southerly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Tonight:
Orkney will be dry this evening with clear spells, turning cloudier overnight with rain or snow possible. Shetland showers ease through the evening, becoming dry and cloudy overnight. Strong winds. Minimum temperature 1 °C.
Sunday 11 January :
A cloudy day with rain, heavy at times, spreading northeastwards. Rain may fall as snow at first, mainly over any higher ground. Strong winds with a risk of gales. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Milder than recent days and remaining unsettled with outbreaks of rain interspersed with dry and bright or sunny spells. Strong winds and gale risk on Monday, easing Tuesday.
