Today 12 March :

An overcast start with periods of rain, heavy at times and combining with gales to bring decidedly un-Spring like weather. Clearing to blustery showers during the morning, with these heavy for the afternoon bringing the risk of hail and thunder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Strong to gale southwest winds pushing showers across the Northern Isles, occasional for the evening, turning more frequent and heavy overnight, with some fleeting sleet and snow possible. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Friday 13 March :

Frequent showers continuing, which turn heavy at times bringing the risk of hail and thunder. Strong west to southwest winds perhaps touching gale force at first. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Scattered showers for Saturday mixed with limited brighter spells. Showers and longer periods of rain for Sunday, combining with strong to gale winds. Only scattered light showers for Monday.
