Cloudy with rain clearing east towards midday to leave a brighter afternoon with sunny spells and heavy, blustery showers. Strong to gale force southerly then southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Blustery showers continuing through the night. Some showers likely to be heavy with hail and hill snow, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder. Fresh southwesterly winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Monday 16 March :

Rather cloudy with a few heavy showery outbreaks of rain for Shetland, but turning drier through the afternoon. Mostly dry for Orkney with some sunny spells. Strong southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Milder on Tuesday but largely cloudy and breezy with some rain. Becoming increasingly settled during Wednesday and Thursday with more in the way of sunnier spells and lighter winds.
