There are a variety of roles:
- committee members
- administration volunteers
- drivers
- fosterers (who look after cats until they find a new home)
- fundraisers
- Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) volunteers (who trap feral cats, take them to be neutered and return them to their territory).
“I’d like to encourage any local people who love cats to consider helping us” Lona, the Area Branch Development Manager, said.
“Volunteering for Cats Protection is a wonderful experience because it gives you the opportunity to be part of a worthwhile cause. The volunteers gain a lot of satisfaction from giving unwanted cats a second chance in life, fundraising, providing information to the public, offering neutering support to qualifying owners and helping feral cats, so if any of these aspects of our charity work sound of interest then please get in touch. We provide all the training and equipment that you need.
“We are sure whoever takes on any of these roles will find it incredibly rewarding. It’s also a great way to make new friends – both human and feline!”
Cats Protection is looking for new volunteers in Aberdeenshire, Ardnamurchan (including Mull and Oban), Highland, Moray, Orkney, Perth, and Shetland.
Although Cats Protection works hard to find new homes for cats in need, the task is very challenging because for every cat that finds a home, there are many more waiting to come in, hence the need for more volunteers to help us continue our vital cat welfare work.
