A largely dry morning with long sunny spells but showers developing towards midday. Further showers and sunny spells through the afternoon, the showers moving through quickly on the strengthening northerly breeze. Rather cold. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
Tonight:
Late sunny spells, then, especially for Orkney, clear spells overnight with showers. Cloudier for Shetland, perhaps more persistent rain, through the early hours. Strong northerly breeze, risk of gales Shetland. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
Friday 15 May :
Any rain across Shetland soon clearing then a bright, but cold, day with sunny spells and a few showers. Strong northerly or northwesterly winds slowly easing. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Mainly dry with sunny spells Saturday with northwesterly winds easing. Morning rain Sunday but becoming brighter for the afternoon with a few showers. Rather cloudy Monday with rain at times.
