Patty Boonstra (aka Patricia Robinson) has had quite a few exhibitions in galleries in Orkney over the years.  Her present exhibition is ‘Bodyscapes’ in the Loft Gallery, St. Margaret’s Hope, as previously mentioned in m’blog

Sharing the space is an exhibition called ‘Tidelines’ – being works by Louise Scott.

I mentioned to Patty that I’d like to go to see these exhibitions,  but can’t manage the spiral stair to the Loft.

Years ago, we went to see an exhibition by Aaron Watson in the Loft Gallery. One of his images was as though the Ring of Brodgar was a pool, and the viewer was under the pool, looking up, through the Ring. This image was the first thing the visitor to the gallery saw on climbing up the stairs to the Loft.  Stunning.

I can remember the layout of that room – a very good exhibition venue, with good light, and was sorry not to be able to see these works, in that setting.

Patty’s solution was to send me some images from the exhibition.  My strongest impression is of colour – strong blocks of colour in and fragments of colour flying off from, the human form.

With Patty’s permission, I’ll post a couple of them here to encourage those of you who can, to go to see the rest of her work.

The exhibitions run until the 27th of June, opening times of the Gallery are 10 am to 5 pm – Tuesday to Saturday.
