On 11 August 1926 the West Mainland Flower, Produce and Industrial Show was held organised by the Dounby SWRI.

The Flower Show had an increase in entries in both quantity and quality with only the potted plants decreasing in number.

The report published in The Orkney Herald on 18 August 1926 stated:

“The display of cut flowers and industrial work were generally admired as being of a very high standard, while the baking exhibits showed that the ladies in the West Mainland had studied the culinary art to much advantage. “

The judges were:

• Flowers and Vegetables – Mr Mitchell, Stromness; Mr Jas Sinclair, Kirkwall.
• Dairy produce etc – Miss Leslie, North of Scotland College of Agriculture.
• Industrial work – Mrs Bailey, Miss S. Bailey, Miss N. Bailey, Kirkwall.
• Baking – Mr R.S. Spence, Kirkwall.
