Workers on the Flotta oil terminal have secured a new pay deal after the threat of strike action.

Approximately 20 offshore workers employed by Neo Next + Energy E&P UK Ltd in Orkney backed an enhanced pay deal after they had previously voted for strike action. The workers include production technicians and control room operators.

A revised pay offer was tabled by the company following the strike mandate. This resulted in the overall package including the site allowance being increased to approximately five per cent for the vast majority of workers. The lowest paid will receive a proportionately higher increase with all workers getting an above inflation rise.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said:

“The Neo Next workers at the Flotta oil terminal stood firm to get the pay deal they deserved. Through the threat of strike action, they increased the pay offer, and delivered an above inflation increase for all workers.”

Neo Next + Energy E&P Limited is the largest independent oil and gas producer in the North Sea, and the product of a merger between NEO NEXT and TotalEnergies’ UK Upstream oil and gas operations.

Unite industrial officer Paula Buchan, said:

“Unite’s members were determined to get a fair pay offer. The enhanced pay offer followed a strong strike mandate and the deal ensures the lowest paid are proportionately better-off.

“We are pleased to resolve this dispute on behalf of our membership and before any industrial disruption had to take place.”

The Flotta terminal is located on the island of Flotta, Orkney. Crude oil is imported to the terminal from offshore installations through a subsea pipeline.
