Bright spells and occasional showers, but also plenty of dry and bright weather. Strong northwesterly winds at first across Shetland, otherwise less windy than of late. Clouding over with more persistent rain mid afternoon for Orkney. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Rain moving north to Shetland, mostly light and clearing all areas later in the evening, Brisk westerly winds continuing through the night with a occasionally showers too. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Saturday 19 September :

A blustery day with frequent showers moving through with the strong southwesterly winds, winds touching gales in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Further showers Sunday with strong northwesterly winds eventually easing later. Perhaps becoming a little more settled early next week with some bright or sunny weather.
