Cloudy this morning with rain, heavy at times, spreading northeastwards and clearing Orkney by the afternoon and Shetland in the evening. Strong southeasterly winds with gale risk diminishing through the day. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Rain clears Shetland but murky conditions remain this evening with a risk of fog. Largely clear conditions for Orkney will spread to Shetland later. Winds easing somewhat through the night. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday 1 October :

Dry with plenty of sunshine for Shetland. Orkney will have a sunny morning, with patchy cloud developing and a low risk of the odd shower in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Showers or longer spells of rain on Friday interspersed with some bright spells. The weekend will be largely cloudy and windy with patchy rain at times.
