Several payments delivered in Scotland to people requiring financial support are to be increased by the Scottish Government from 1st April.

Thousands of people who struggle to find the time or resources to take a holiday can now apply for a subsidised short break.
Low-income families in Orkney will benefit from a £320 uplift before Christmas as part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to tackling child poverty.

The new fund now covers children from birth to 18 who are receiving inpatient care, and will cover costs for their parents, anyone with parental responsibility, and siblings under 18.

Best Start Grants replace and expand on the UK Government’s Sure Start Maternity Grant by providing eligible families with £600 on the birth of their first child and £300 on the birth of any subsequent children.
