Local MSP Rhoda Grant, Labour has stepped in to defend air traffic controllers
“We did not want to have to take this action today, but our members have lost patience with the lack of engagement from HIAL and Scottish Ministers.”
“Of course, it is for HIAL to ensure that it has contingency plans in place, and it is working to do that. “
“We will now move to further industrial action including strike.”
Prospect has agreed to suspend the strike action on the 26th April to allow discussions to continue. Action short of a strike will continue.
Airports that will be directly affected are Dundee, Inverness, Wick, Kirkwall, Sumburgh, Stornoway, and Benbecula.
“The Scottish Ministers own HIAL and have a responsibility to ensure this situation is resolved urgently, with a fair settlement for staff.”
“Prospect believes this is gambling with people’s safety.”
