A breakthrough in renewable energy could see Scotland becoming one of the largest global energy exporters in the world.
Orkney Islands Council scooped the Driving Efficiency through Technology prize at the Local Government Chronicle awards which were held in London.

There have been changes made to the planned substation. This mainly involves lowering the platform level by 1m to make it less visually intrusive.
Orkney is the only place in the United Kingdom that generates its entire power supply from clean energy and has become one the most promising sites for low-carbon energy research in the world.
