Police Scotland and Orkney Islands Council are urging people not to venture out on the county’s roads unless their journey is absolutely essential.
Orkney has one of the highest uptakes of EV’s in the country with some 250 and about 10,000 fossil fuelled vehicles.
Orkney Islands Council will be carrying out road maintenance on Victoria Street and Graham Place, Stromness, between Church Road and Dundas Street.
From Monday 13th of January
King Street will be closed to traffic from 08:00 on Monday 9 December to 12:00 on Wednesday 11 December.
Orkney Islands Council is advising that Palace Road and Tankerness Lane in Kirkwall will be open to traffic again from Monday 2nd December.
Alfred Street in Stromness will be closed to traffic from Monday 4 November for around five weeks to allow drainage work to take place.
